Strong As An Oak
Seasons they change but we won’t go nowhere
I envy the smoke filling my lungs
Bellow and blow off into nowhere
silver lining my old friend
I wasn’t cut out for this
we weren’t cut from the same cloth
I fashioned you a sweater to keep you warm and shut your jaw
I’ll show you all my secrets
you keep picking at the threads
Until my chest is bare
silver lining my old friend
We carved our names into the bark
With my grandfather’s Swiss army knife
A hand-me-down promise that we could last
At least until they cut that old tree down
Fade fading faster
there’s miles between us and nothing but
I’ll be fine and you’ll be ready for it
Silver lining, silver lining my old friend
We carved our names into the bark
With my grandfather’s Swiss army knife
A hand-me-down promise that we could last
At least until they cut that old tree down
